The Work Injury Benefit Act came into force on June 2, 2008 replacing the Workmen’s Compensation Act. The Act makes it compulsory for every employer to provide cover for all their employees against bodily injury, disease or death sustained and arising out of and in the course of their employment.
The cover extends to compensate employees for injuries and accidental death arising outside working hours.

– Compensation for Permanent Total Disablement
– Compensation for Temporary Total / Partial Disablement
– Accidental Medical Expenses
– Funeral Expenses
– Life’s Assistance
– Occupational Illness
-Any accidental death or injury occurring outside normal working hours
-Any injury by accident or disease sustained by an employee below 18 years
-Any liability arising out of any court proceedings
-Any liability arising out of pre-existing medical conditions
– Per person – Kshs 50 Million
– Per Event – Kshs 100 Million
– In aggregate – Kshs 500 Million
– Duly Completed Proposal Form
– Copy of National ID & P.I.N. Certificate
– List of employees covered required
In the event of a WIBA/PA/GPA Claim, please provide the following documents:
Fill a Claim Form: Get a claim form from the insurance company, and fill it truthfully. Our WIBA Insurance Claim form can be found on our client portal or can be downloaded below. After filing the form, make all necessary attachments and send it to the insurance company.
